Crystal Cathcart Benefit

June 4 & 5 at the Oasis in New London

28 May 2010

Crystal's Busted HeadSo many of you already know that Crystal Cathcart was injured earlier this month in a bicycle accident, and has her jaw put together with plates and wires. OUCH! Well, Crystal is one of our very favorite people, and we're not alone - The Weird Beards and most of New London feels the same way. So, The Oasis Pub is holding a benefit Friday 5th of June, and Saturday 6th of June to help cover the thousands of dollars of medical bills that are still due, even after state aid has been exhausted. We've been asked to play Friday night. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

Details:

We are confirmed for Friday, 4 June at the Oasis with Above/Below, and Brian Skidmore. Come back Saturday for The Weird Beards, Straight to VHS, Matt Gouette! As far as I know we're going on second, but as always set times are subject to change. There will be raffles both nights, with local vendors donating all kinds of cool prizes.

Viva La Mexico

and bon voyage. . .

20 May 2010

So Diane is flying out to vacation in Mexico for a couple of weeks with her girlfriend. (We all wish her a safe and happy trip, and a speedy return, of course.) Alaa is staying loose while the world twists and turns around him. Our album languishes in a deep hole somewhere in New Britain, while the evil Dr. Jenkins works unholy voodoo spells on it. And I (Jeff) am getting married next month. Holy cow!!

It looks like we're taking a month off of music! *whew* I woke up today with no gigs on the slate, no practice next week, and I'm still breathing. Apparantly, there IS live without music. 8) But seriously, we're taking a month's hiatus, but we're not going anywhere. We'll be coming back to work on BRAND NEW MATERIAL and maybe a couple of fun new covers to spice things up. I think we'll probabally be recording again as soon as possible.

Ta Ta For Now - Misery

New LIVE Track

Brandy New Song.

8 May 2010

So all other business aside. . . I was invited, after our set at Bleachers, to come back the next night and open for Apache Stone (Feat. Mike Lombardi from TV's "Rescue Me"). So, I played an unscheduled 1 hour solo acoustic set. Surprise! So thanks to Marty Weiland & Kevin Parkinson (lights / sound) for asking me to play, and making the room sound incredible. Also thanks to Apache Stone for hanging out and being cool after the show.

Special Super Bonus!! Kevin and Marty were able to send a feed from the soundboard to my Tascam, hence we have the very first public performance of a song I wrote the morning before yesterday. It doesn't get any fresher than this, people! Digital recording technology is actually making John Lennon's dream of putting out rock singles like newspapers - i.e. about what happened yesterday - a reality.

Bleachers, Bristol, May 6th

w/ TBA, no cover!

17 April 2010

We've been invited to play at Bleachers in Bristol. If any of you missed our battle of the bands gig there last Jan., let me tell you, the sound system is awesome. We expect to sound like gods. Maybe evil ones. Who knows?

the Weird BeardsBut wait, I haven't even told you the best part yet -- I just confirmed a rumour that the world's weirdest band will be able to perform with us. This makes us very happy, yes it does, my precious. . . If you don't already know The Weird Beards check them out. Brian Skidmore will uke' all over you.

The show should start at 9 so be there. Bleachers is advertising $1 Bud and Bud Lite bottles, which makes it Thirsty Thursday by the old school rules. Better yet - no cover - so no excuses. See you there!

F**k me! We're all Irish!

A Villainous St. Patty's Day & Weekend

8 March 2010

St. Patty's Day, we'll be playing over at Plan B in Simsbury. Last year we rocked that party, this year we'll have help. Just Plain Villains will be partying with us so it should be twice as fun. Speaking of twice as fun, Misery Exquisite and Just Plain Villains will be rocking St Patty's Weekend together on their home turf - the Zen Bar, at it's great location in the old DeJa Vu's on plainville/southington town line. It's Saturday night, and you KNOW you don't have something better to do, so why not come out twice, see twice as many bands, and have double double Saint Patty's Day fun with us?

Thanks, Providence --

Look Out, New London

15 February 2010

Thanks to the enthusiastic folks at AS-220 for showing us a good time. You guys treated us so well -- we'll surely be back just as soon as we can. This Saturday, though, I'll be WALKING to our gig at Hot Rod's. We'll be playing with my good friend Brian Skidmore, and the creative nexus which is The Weird Beards. Kick ass.

Also, I put our lyrics up - just the songs on the upcoming release. Speaking of which, yeah, yeah we're putting it out soon, and we're doing it ourselves. I don't know what else I can tell ya at this point. Brad Sheradin has shown me some preliminary album art that is super cool. We've got the nod from Jon to come back for a full listen of the latest mix. Work, work work. . .
- see you all very soon . . . . . . . . . . . Jeff

Thanks, Guys. See ya there. - J

New Show Dates!

(whew. . . finally!)

5 January 2010

So. . . we've got a string of shows lined up for the next couple of months. And, with any luck we'll be in the studio this weekend to FINISH UP our album. Not bad for a week's work, especially compared to an entire season of slacking. Well, that was me. Recent events gives more weight to the camp (jon) who thinks we should have kept the name "I Love Diane", but I digress.

Here's the blurb about our next show, coming up very soon at the New Zen Bar, (the old De Ja Vous):
LOOK OUt, greater Bristol area, we're Back! We're rocking zen bar on 'thirsty' Thurs. 21 January for our HOMECOMING SHOW, within a stones throw of our very first practice room. I fully expect it to be a blast, especially getting to see everybody again. We'll be bringing our own opening act (tba, but I assure you they rock - I'll post it on miseryexquisite.com when they're confirmed) Music starts at 10 PM. directions, etc at zenbarct.com

So, here's my shout out to Gem's Sensor's manufacturing plant, right up the road. To all my old co-workers, your prodigal son returneth. And, yes, in case you were wondering, "Michele" WILL be in our setlist.

Keep tabs on the website this month for details, as we get them about shows at AS-220 in Providence, RI; and Plan B in Simsbury, CT! Peace out, y'all!
-- Jeff

P.S. I just found out we are registered for a the Bristol qualifier of a national battle of the bands competition. It will be Jan 31st at Bleachers. I'll keep you posted of our set time as we get confirmation. - c ya there!

Minor Update

11 November

I just switched the EPK and Music/video pages. I have godlike powers. Neat, huh? Also, added a third-party music player.

Hello, my fellows; Jello

2 November 2009

OK, so Jello wrestling was an absolute blast. The music, was good, too, and the crowd was drinking and dancing. But as the night got later, things got a little slippery. . . the girls had a few wardrobe malfunctions . . . I have to thank the one and only William Wallace for putting on such a spectacle. I can't wait to come back.

I got a couple of videos from my friend, Maxim's, phone and I put them up on the EPK page so check 'em out! BTW did anyone get pictures?

Still working on the album. Jonny and I spent a day in the studo essentially mixing and doing some post. It's really turning out great. I'm waiting on one more session with The Weird Beards bassist, Jake Kaesar. He'll be making a guest appearance on "Malice" playing upright bass. Speaking of New London people, unconfirmed rumour has it that we'll finally be playing the Oasis this month. Now, usually when Sean tells me he has a show in mind for me, I do not allow myself the luxurious folly of optomism. This time, however, I confess, I have let my hopes swell oh-so-modestly. Only time will tell. . .

So happy Turkey Day, all you turkeys. 8) Thanks to everyone who came out and partied with us in Norwich. PEACE!

Misery Exquisite Online Revamp

23 August 2009

news thumbnail miseryexquisite.com is up and running. I've put it together myself, so if it doesn't work on your browser, I want to hear about it! I'm running chrome.
ALSO -- our chasing the gnome myspace (/hartrock) is still functioning as our music player right now. Seems to do the trick, anyway.

Don't miss JELLO WRESTLING at the High Noon! We're playing on 25 sept., the last Friday, with The Weird Beards and The Enth. Diane said she's down to wrestle, and I'm going to hold her to it! (Not Erin, though, oddly enough) Come see my crazy, sticky drummer jamming out all covered in JELLO! For those of you who remember, the High Noon is the old Stinkin' Lincoln -- right at the end of Route 82 in Norwich. On the left as your headed towards downtown, just after CVS. Can't miss it. Show should begin around nine. See you there! - Jeff
